Gelb was inspired to launch T HENRI after working closely with high net worth clients in the luxury automobile industry. He noticed a pattern in their shopping habits: a penchant for impeccably made high end goods that weren’t easy to find, from cars and furniture to jewelry and clothes. But the one area that often fell short of their expectations was eyewear. Most luxury eyewear carries an emblematic name, but is still mass-produced. So with T HENRI, Gelb set out to create eyewear on par with the rarest luxury goods on the planet.

T HENRI’s opulent eyewear draws inspiration from Tyler Gelb’s automotive background and his general love of all things lavish. Rarity, however, is what makes T HENRI designs truly special. All styles are limited editions that are never recreated. The brand only releases 200 pieces or less per style and colorway, so wearing a pair of T HENRI frames puts you in one of the world’s most exclusive eyewear clubs.

The Intricate Process Behind Every Frame

To create the pinnacle of rare luxury eyewear, T HENRI partners with artisans in Sabae, Japan—a globally renowned destination for high quality eyewear. The culture and history of Japanese craftsmanship is rooted in all the qualities needed to produce perfection: precision, discipline, respect, patience, and mastery. 

T HENRI’s 250 step production process is elaborate and time-consuming, but worth it for the final result. It starts with a hand drawing by Gelb before being brought to life through painstaking handcrafting techniques. It can take up to 2 years to perform research and development and 19 months just to complete a single design, from discovering rich colorways through Pantone matching to creating in-house acetate and refining the frames with hand finishing techniques.  

The brand works with premium materials such as titanium, 18K gold, and precious gems for longevity and durability, and all designs are performance tested to ensure full lifestyle compatibility.
